Hi Liz and welcome to planDisney!
Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground is my favorite Walt Disney World Resort! Whether you're staying there for vacation or just visiting for the day, it's always a great time at "The Fort" for some fun.
Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue is a great dinner show experience with tons of delicious food and hilarious entertainment. The cornbread is my favorite, but save room for dessert!
You can drive your own vehicle to Fort Wilderness, but the parking lot is located up front near the entrance. You will need to park your car there and then take any internal bus at the Outpost Depot to the Settlement Depot, which is down by the marina. Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue is just down the path from where the bus drops you off. Since you can't park right near the restaurant, give yourself extra time to get there as the internal buses stop at numerous campsite and cabin loops along the way. There is a cute gift shop in the area that you can check out if you arrive too early and also a playground for the kids.
Before or after dinner, take a stroll down to the marina. It's always so peaceful anywhere at Fort Wilderness, but I love sticking my toes in the sand and watching the boats come and go. My kids also love to play a few rounds of tetherball down there.
Another fun activity to do at Fort Wilderness is to take a
horse drawn carriage ride. Depending on what time your dinner show reservation is, you can do this after dinner. It's a lovely ride throughout The Fort and through campsite loops. One of my favorite things to do when I am visiting is to see all of the campsites that are decorated with beautiful lights and fun inflatables. It's such a fun way to end the evening.
Please stop back by if you have any additional vacation planning questions.
Have a magical day!
Leslie
