Are drinking containers allowed in parks? What is the size constant?

    Hi Barry! Welcome to planDisney.

A summer vacation to the Walt Disney World Resort is dreamy in so many ways: Mickey-shaped ice cream, sunshine-filled days, cooling off on Splash Mountain and Kali River Rapids…I could go on and on. As long as you’re prepared for the heat and humidity, you will have lots of summer fun in just a few months!

I never travel to the Walt Disney World Resort without my water bottle. My family members each have a 32-oz metal water bottle that we bring to the Disney theme parks in our backpacks every single day. We refill at water bottle filling stations throughout the theme parks; an easy way to find these stations and water fountains is by filtering the Park Map in your My Disney Experience mobile app to view Restrooms, as the water fountains are often outside these. You may also request a cup of complimentary ice water at any Quick-Service dining location.

Barry, the Park Rules are a great way to familiarize yourself with what is allowed in the theme parks and what is prohibited. Right now, water bottles are permitted as long as they are not glass, but there is not a published size limit. Note that your bags are subject to inspection by security. Also, coolers must be no larger than 24” long x 15” wide x 18” high. Your water bottles may not contain alcoholic beverages. As you think about which size water bottle to bring, remember that you will be carrying it around. I have found between 20-32 ounces is perfect for me, as I do get very thirsty in the heat, and if I’m eating a lot of salty treats like popcorn and Mickey pretzels, I’m extra thirsty!

I hope this helps you beat the heat so you can stay cool and feel good during your visit. My very favorite refreshing treat is the DOLE Whip, which can be found throughout the Walt Disney World Resort. I love to get one at Aloha Isle, as this feels like the iconic place to eat this cool pineapple treat, but there are many flavors and variations throughout Disney. As you count down to your visit, be sure to read the Disney Park Blog for great stories on summer treats and news updates. You’ll be in the middle of it all before you can say “Mickey!”

    Wishing you a magical vacation,
    Robyn
