Ahoy there, Yvonne, and welcome aboard planDisney! Thanks for casting off with us!
If you're already considering a 4-night Bahamian Itinerary, it's likely you already filled your sails with thoughts of white sand beaches, amazing dining options, incredible entertainment and the most magical ships on the seven seas. What more could you ask for? ... Oh, right! You asked about drink packages and trip insurance (known on Disney Cruise Line as the
Vacation Protection Plan! Let's start with the fun one, shall we?
The Vacation Protection Plan... just kidding.
You probably are aware of
everything that's included on a Disney Cruise Line vacation - from coffee, tea and soft drinks at meals and on deck, to the famously unlimited soft serve, the value from the food and beverage options alone makes sailing on the Disney Cruise Line fleet worth every penny if you ask me! What better way to reward yourself for your smart decision on the best vacation around than with a drink package from the available
Onboard Gifts and Amenities options!
There are multiple
packages available for beer & wine,
water, cider and non-alcoholic options as well as
stateroom decor, cakes and other treats to help celebrate the start of your vacation! The cost varies depending on your selections, and is subject to change, but to help you estimate, a 4-bottle classic wine package currently costs $128 before service charges. These packages are a great way to add that little something extra to your dining experiences while aboard - and with the package savings, that's another smart decision you've made. The value keeps stacking-up!
Now to the equally important, but not quite as exciting matter of the Vacation Protection Plan. It covers your family from cancellation due to emergencies and other unforeseen circumstances—both before and during your vacation! The cost of this offering will vary based on several factors, including the number of members of your sailing party and the stateroom category you select as it calculated as a percentage of your total cruise fare.
If you'd like an exact price for your particular sailing, I'd suggest going through the booking process on the Disney Cruise Line website, making the stateroom selections for your party and look for the prompt to "Add Vacation Protection Plan!" Don't worry - you don't have to book your cruise to get to this point - and in fact, in most cases you can even add the Vacation Protection Plan at any time up until you make your final payment!
There was a time when I didn't purchase the Vacation Protection Plan, but now that I have a family of my own, I always make sure to budget for it when planning our vacations. It gives me the peace of mind to truly relax once I step aboard! Like the old saying goes "better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it!"
I hope I've cleared the way for you and your family to book an exciting adventure to the Bahamas, Yvonne! If you have any other questions, you can always drop us a line here at planDisney (I check for lines every day!)
To life, the sea and adventure!
