Ahoy, Sharon!
Thanks for cruising on over to planDisney! Before you know it, you'll be enjoying a magical time at sea with Mickey and friends. I love my time in the Disney theme parks, but there is something so relaxing about a cruise. Disney Cruise Line is the perfect way to experience the best of Disney's quality service and entertainment while also having a chance to really unwind.
Sharon, when sailing with Disney Cruise Line, you'll find that pre-ordering drink packages looks a bit different. First, it's important to know that your cruise fare includes a selection of
complimentary soft drinks, juices, coffee, and other non-alcoholic beverages in the main dining rooms, at the buffet, and at the beverage station located on the pool deck - no drink package required for those! If you are grabbing a coffee, smoothie, soda, or other alcoholic or non-alcoholic drinks from a bar or lounge, additional charges will apply.
For alcoholic beverages, you can typically order a wine package or choose from a selection of beer and wine offerings available for pre-order through
Onboard Gifts. My husband and I like a nice bottle of wine each night with dinner, so we order the wine package that corresponds to the length of our cruise. In the main dining room each evening, we'll review the choices included in the wine package with our wait staff, and they serve it with our meal.
planDisney Pro Tip - Did you know you can also purchase stateroom decorations, speciality treats, and other fun surprises through Onboard Gifts? There are some great options to review - particularly if you're celebrating a special occasion!
Disney Cruise Line also allows Guests to bring their own alcohol onboard during embarkation. Currently, the
alcohol policy states that each Guest over the age of 21 can bring a maximum of one unopened bottle (no larger than 750 ml) of wine or sparkling wine OR six beers (no larger than 12 ounces) on the ship. If you choose to bring your own alcohol, it must be packed in your carry-on bags or luggage, and a corkage fee will apply for bottles of wine that you bring to the dining rooms. Since policies and restricted items can change and sometimes vary by departure port, I suggest reviewing the
full list of restricted and prohibited items right before you leave to help with your packing!
I hope this information has been helpful, Sharon, and that you enjoy making many magical memories at sea with Disney Cruise Line! If you have any other questions, please stop by to see us again here at planDisney - we're all ears!
SEA ya real soon!
