Can we dress up on May 4th Star Wars day while in the park?

Hello there Sarah, and welcome to planDisney - your interstellar resource for Star Wars knowledge at Disney Destinations!

As someone who has definitely dressed up in my Jedi best on my journeys out to Batuu, it's always so wonderful to see how increasingly elaborate and detailed some of the outfits have become around this part of the galaxy! Several years have passed since the first guests ventured out to Black Spire Outpost wearing intergalactic-inspired clothing to bound in style among the citizens of Batuu, and it has been interesting to observe the kinds of attire that Disney's Hollywood Studios Security Cast Members have allowed in. With May the Fourth quickly approaching this weekend, I do have some interstellar insights that can help you plan around what to wear among fellow fans who will be around to celebrate the occasion:

    • The most important things to always keep in mind are the Attire Policies found under the Walt Disney World Resort Property Rules, which prohibit guests who are 14 years of age or older from wearing costumes, masks or clothing that can drag on the ground. Policies are always subject to change without prior notice and may be at the discretion of the Cast Members and their leadership as you enter the theme park, so it's always best to be prepared to comply and remove anything you're wearing that may be deemed inappropriate to against policy.
In my opinion, keeping it more subtle does mean playing it safe and avoiding the risk of being requested to change parts of your look or not being permitted entry. I do highly recommend connecting with fellow Star Wars fans in groups online that are comprised of guests and Cast Members alike who may have additional tips on what they've been able to wear on their journeys to Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, and don't miss the opportunity to have Disney PhotoPass Service snap a shot (or what the villagers might refer to as a "holoscan")!

Some of the most epic moments I've witnessed on this day each year have taken place as the three suns of Batuu have set and the stars above bring out some of the most impressively-attired denizens in the darkness, and you'll find the area around Oga's Cantina to be especially popular. In the meantime, come back again soon for any other tips or tricks here at planDisney, and I wish you all the best on your quest to be appropriately-dressed!

May the Fourth be with you!
