Is there a dress code for the water parks on Disney Cruise Line ships?

Well ahoy there Kira and welcome aboard planDisney!

There's really nothing like soaking and swimming away your day on deck while you're sailing on one of the vessels of Disney Cruise Line's growing fleet, with glimpses of the shimmering seas surrounding your ship. Now whether you're just enjoying one of the many pools you'll find across the ships, having a refreshing escape out by Satellite Falls or going for a more thrilling experience on the AquaMouse - you may be happy to hear that there is no specific dress code policy in place for adult cruisers, at least as far as your basic swimwear is concerned. When I confirmed with a Disney Cruise Line Cast Member directly they let me know that guests should use their best judgment as far as what to wear to enjoy public pools and waterslides. There are however a few key articles of clothing or accessories that may not be permitted that seafarers of all ages should be aware of:

    • There are specific instances where swim goggles or swim masks are not permitted, such as the AquaDuck and AquaDunk. The use of snorkel tubes is currently not permitted in any pools, hot tubs or waterslides.
    • Only children who are completely trained and confident in using the toilet independently may use the pools, so diapers are definitely not permitted. However, those who aren't quite toilet trained yet are able to wear a swim diaper in water play areas like Nemo's Reef that allow younger sailors a chance to splash away so it's a good idea to always review the signage in these areas and confirm with the Crew Members stationed nearby.
    • The official list of prohibited items is always subject to change without prior notice and it may be at the discretion of the Crew or Officers on your ship to determine whether an item may or may not be permitted to be worn in the water recreation spaces on board.
From my personal experience, cruising brings together such a varied crowd of seafarers from all over the world and I've definitely seen some more adventurous forms of swimwear, especially when sailing European itineraries! I am glad that folks and families have always been respectful of each other as they enjoy their cruise vacations in way that's comfortable for everyone. I hope this was helpful Kira, and that you come back again for any more bits of nautical knowledge here at planDisney.

Here's to making a splash on your next Disney Cruise Line adventure!
