Dream 2 x-Fantasy-Aug-what are the differences? Adult/friend trip (retirement celebration) verandah (past inside room)Aqua duck slide? rotational dining? Any tips? DVC b4 & after cruise. Will skip excursions-ship quiet port days?

    Ahoy Denise!

A land and sea vacation with your friends? LOVE IT! I wholeheartedly applaud a Disney cruise for an adults-only retirement celebration. You and I are kindred spirits! My girlfriends and I are about to embark on a grown-ups only sailing later this month, so naturally I am in support of your nautical plans.

Trying to choose between the Disney Fantasy and the Disney Dream is like being asked who is your favorite kid! The Disney Fantasy is the newest in the fleet...that is until the Disney Wish makes its highly anticipated debut in January 2022! Fortunately, both the Disney Dream and the Disney Fantasy are almost identical in layout and amenities, so I’ll go about analyzing them by their itineraries. Given the late August dates you mentioned, I’d have to give the nod on this one to the Disney Fantasy with its TWO stops at Castaway Cay. However, my hunch is that it will be a far more popular cruise because of its unique itinerary.

My personal preference is for a verandah when we sail although honestly on some cruises it’s more vital than others, like Alaska! We like having verandahs during my girlfriends' cruise because we get adjoining staterooms and have the partition removed to create one big balcony from our two verandahs.

The ships are generally quieter on port days, but probably would be even more so on the Disney Fantasy when it’s at Castaway Cay because Guests cannot get enough of Disney’s private island. However, I cannot in good conscience tell you to remain on the ship while you are in Castaway Cay because it’s such a fabulous destination! Plus, there’s an entire area dedicated to adults called Serenity Bay that I think would be perfect for you and your friends. Here's my tip: how about send part of your day ashore and then head back to the ship and take a refreshing slide on Aquaduck water coaster while Guests are still ashore on Castaway Cay. It will feel fabulous after being on the beach at Serenity Bay!

Set sail for the Disney Parks Moms Panel again as you continue your planning journey-we'd love to help!

    SEA ya real soon!
