Hello Dr. Disney. I saw your question from Natasha about booking at home resort at 11 months and then switching at the 7 month mark. I am brand new to DVC. Can you do that? I also want to go to Board Walk in October, but my home is AK? Thanks.

    Hi Barbara,

I'm so glad that you joined the Disney Vacation Club! You have many years of enjoying membership ahead of you.

Absolutely, you can switch your resort at the seven-month mark.  Many members book at their eleven-month window at their home resort to ensure that they have secured accommodations for their trip. Then, at the seven-month window, you can transfer your reservation to another resort if you chose.  I find that the best way to do this is to call the helpful cast members at member services at 1-800-800-9800.

It has been my experience that Disney's BoardWalk Villas books up quickly and is very full in October, due to the close proximity to Epcot for the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival.  So please do not be surprised or disappointed if there is not availability and Disney's BoardWalk Villas for your trip in October.  Over the years that we have been Disney Vacation Club Members, we have been able to stay at all of the Disney Vacation Club resorts on Walt Disney World property.

Have a wonderful trip, and please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions.  "Welcome home!" from Dr. Disney!
