Hi Amanda,
My family has been blessed to enjoy multi-generational visits to the most magical place on earth together, and I'm really excited to hear that you'll be able to do the same! You'll make memories together that you'll cherish for years to come!
We had a similar issue recently in that one of my family members was struggling with arthritis pain. We found that
renting a wheelchair made a world of difference and allowed her to really enjoy the trip! She was still able to move about independently for short periods of time, so we would use the wheelchair if we were going very far, but she was able to wait in most lines and walk short distances. We'd simply park her wheelchair at the appropriate location if we were heading into an attraction and pick it up when we were done. If your mom needs to use her wheelchair all the time or for longer periods of time, you'll find this page with services for
Guests with mobility disabilities, especially the transfer requirements for each attraction to be helpful.
Do note that if you choose to rent a wheelchair directly from Disney, you'll need to return it at the theme park before you leave. While there are complimentary wheelchairs available to help with accessing the parking lots, you may want to consider renting a wheelchair from a
Disney Featured Provider if you'd like to keep the wheelchair with you even at your Disney Resort hotel.
Thanks so much for visiting us at the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Amanda, and definitely let us know if you have any other questions as you're planning your trip. I hope that you and your entire family have a truly magical vacation together!
Missy
