Downtown Disney/Hotels dining recommendations? My top 2 spots from previous trips are either gone or will be by the time of my trip (Rainforest & Tortilla Joe's). For Non-park days I still need to figure out 1 breakfast, 2 dinners, and 2 lunches.

    Hi there, Tyler!

It’s great to hear from you again. Thanks for coming back to planDisney to ask us another question as you continue making plans for your Disneyland Resort vacation. I’m glad to hear that you’ll have time built into your stay to visit the Downtown Disney District and Disneyland Resort Hotels because there is so much magic to explore outside the theme parks as well as inside!

For a casual but tasty spot to grab a meal with a Polynesian flair, Tangaroa Terrace Tropical Bar & Grill at the Disneyland Hotel is one of my favorites for both breakfast and lunch! I love to start my morning with a delicious order of Tangaroa Toast and a cup of Hawaiian Kona coffee. For lunch or dinner, you can get a fresh poke bowl, a hot bowl of ramen, or the hearty Hawaiian platter that comes with a choice of marinated short ribs or teriyaki chicken. The panko-crusted long beans are a must-try appetizer. You can also find the same legendary DOLE WHIP pineapple-flavored soft serve and floats here that are served at the Tiki Juice Bar outside Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room, and those 21 and over can add a splash of rum to their float if desired!

At Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, GCH Craftsman Bar serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner at this poolside lounge with California Craftsman-style vibes. In the morning, you’ll find traditional breakfast fare, plus Californian favorites like avocado toast and breakfast burritos. There is an excellent cocktail list here and often live music in the evenings!

In the Downtown Disney District, my family has a few favorites. Naples Ristorante e Bar is a good choice for a filling Italian meal of spaghetti and meatballs, and the thin-crust pizzas are always a crowd-pleaser. If you’re in a hurry and would like to grab your meal to go, right next door is Napolini Pizzeria where you’ll find specialty pizzas, sandwiches, salads, and more. You can enjoy your food at their patio tables or take it back to your hotel to enjoy. I also recommend Black Tap Craft Burgers & Shakes, which has been a popular spot ever since it opened about five years ago because of its big, juicy burgers and indulgent shakes. If you’re just craving a sweet treat, swing by the adjacent CrazyShake Window by Black Tap where you can try one of their over-the-top milkshakes to go!

I hope these are helpful suggestions, Tyler, and that you enjoy many delicious meals during your vacation! Please let us know if you have any other planning questions as your trip approaches.

    Wishing you magic,
    Courtney
