Hi Kristen! Thanks for visiting planDisney.
You pass through security to enter the Downtown Disney District as well as the parks, so the Park Rules regarding the
Dress Code also apply to the Downtown Disney District. I'm sorry if that's not the news you were hoping for today. It is always up to the discretion of security what can enter the parks and rules are subject to change, however, currently adults may not wear costumes unless they're attending a specially ticketed event such as the sold-out
Oogie Boogie Bash - A Disney Halloween Party.
Park Rules state that Guests 13 and under may wear costumes, but there are also guidelines associated with safety they'll need to follow. I'd hate for you to be turned away, so read through the rules and do your best to follow them to avoid that outcome.
If you want to get in the spirit while staying within the guidelines for dress, I suggest you get creative with your attire. Street clothes in colors that are reminiscent of the character you're inspired by and a fun hat, jewelry, headpiece, or ears are a good way to celebrate the season. Makeup that doesn't obscure your identity is another way to have some fun with your look for the day. Or style your hair like your favorite Character.
There are lots of ways to get in on the fun of
Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort. We've gone in the style of Star Wars to the parks on many occasions without actually donning costumes, for example. It's more comfortable that way too, which is nice on a long day. And don't forget to grab a spooky-inspired menu item in the Downtown Disney District while you're visiting.
Disney Eats has the official food and beverage news you're craving!
Boo to you!
