When we are Downtown Disney for the first afternoon we get there, what is there for a 6 year old to do and see that is not expensive to do or buy? Thanks

    Hello Mimi,

Spending the afternoon that you arrive at Downtown Disney is a great, relaxing way to begin your stay at Walt Disney World Resort. However, I can also understand your desire to keep it low-key and easy on the wallet. You wouldn't want to break the bank before you even get your vacation in the parks started!

Here are a few suggestions that are both unique, relatively inexpensive, and a fun way to get your trip off to a great start.

My first suggestion is Characters in Flight. This balloon ride high above Downtown Disney is a truly one of a kind experience that you can't get anywhere else at Walt Disney World. The experience itself is about 8-10 minutes and is relatively inexpensive at $12/child and $18/adult. The views are spectacular of Downtown Disney and many of the surrounding resorts and parks. Keep in mind that this ride is weather permitting and could be grounded due to high winds.

If that is a bit too daring, my next recommendation would be heading over to the fairly new Splitsville Luxury Lanes for a game of bowling. It is a bit pricier than Characters in Flight, but could still be manageable for an afternoon of fun for the whole family.

Last but certainly not least would be creating a custom treat at Goofy's Candy Company. There are so many options, but keep in mind this could cause sugar overload!!!

Have a memory filled afternoon and enjoy the rest of the vacation that follows.
