Downtown Disney, we are arriving at WDW late afternoon, wanting to have dinner and explore DD with our 3yr. daughter before heading to MK the following day. Suggestions for dinner? Prefer somewhere with a child menu. Thanks!

    Hi there Cathy!

Downtown Disney is a perfect spot to start getting into the "Disney spirit" while not having to use up a park ticket.  Here are some thoughts to help you pick a perfect dinner spot.

If you'd like a venue that is super fun, with a great, well-themed atmosphere, I'd recommend either Rainforest Cafe or T-Rex. The menus are large and varied, with everything from burgers and pasta to seafood.  Both are targeted toward families and tend to get rave reviews from kids.

If you are looking for something a bit more sophisticated, but still with great children's menus, I have two recommendations:

Fulton's Crab House offers unbelievably fresh seafood, prepared classically.  It is so fresh, in fact, that the packing slips from daily deliveries of Alaskan Crab Legs and other seafood are pinned up inside the lobby!  The specialty is Crab Legs, and you'll see plates and plates overflowing with giant legs being delivered to happy patrons all over Fulton's!  They also make a super yummy Bloody Mary, and have an incredible wine list.  The atmosphere is lovely, as the restaurant is set on a Riverboat permanently "docked" at Downtown Disney.  My kids love eating on this "big white boat"!

Portobello is an Italian restaurant set in a festive atmosphere overlooking Buena Vista Lagoon.  It's menu includes wonderful antipasti, fabulous salads, pizzas pasta and meats.  The wine list is great, and the desserts are amazing!  Oh, I almost forgot, their bread is so good, that I have a hard time not eating the entire basket before my entree is served!

After you finish dinner, I recommend strolling through some of the shops Downtown.  World of Disney is the largest, and has just about any souvenir you could possibly imagine to commemorate your family vacation!

    Have a wonderful trip!
