Welcome to planDisney, Tom!
What a fun surprise for your kids! It's official: you have now advanced to "Pro-Level Dad" status. Congratulations, Tom. Make sure that you check out all the magical experiences that await you and your family for the
50th Anniversary Celebration. In all my years of visiting The Most Magical Place on Earth, I've never seen
Cinderalla Castle looking so spectacular. With its EARidescent makeover, it's the perfect backdrop for those memorable family photos.
I love your idea of announcing your upcoming Disney trip to the kids with a video. In fact, my wife and I did the exact same last year. We sat the kids down and told them that we were taking them on a special vacation. And then we hit play and the house erupted with Disney joy! My young daughter was running around the room screaming out all the rides she was going to go on. Thankfully, we got it all on video so we have that memory forever.
There are a few different options that come to mind, Tom. You could play
The Walt Disney World Resort 50th Anniversary Celebration video. If that's "not your cup of tea" (as we say in England), then there's a magical video on the
main page of the Walt Disney World website. If you click "Watch Full Video" then it will give you a full-screen option. Apart from that, you might want to check out the video on the
Vacation Planning page (although that one is more on the theme of Disney Resorts Collection hotels).
I'm so excited for you and your family to visit, Tom. Walt Disney World is such a magical place for people of all ages (
even preschoolers!). Your kids are going to love
Remy's Ratatouille Adventure at EPCOT (I was grinning from EAR to EAR when I first experienced it). Make sure you take them to see
Disney KiteTails at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park too! And, of course, you simply must make time to watch the
Festival of Fantasy Parade at Magic Kingdom Park. You can even get a special spot to watch it by using
Disney Genie+.
Enjoy every moment, Tom. Remember: you can't take enough photos and videos!
ChEARS,
Mike
