Hi Angie! I love this “down day” idea that you’ve brought to planDisney! In fact, I think I want to join your family! The Christmas Tree Trail, the Skyliner, the Monorail, and the gingerbread displays all in one day sounds like a great Disney day! I’m happy to share a suggested itinerary for your day, but glass slippers simply won’t do for this day! Be sure to have your most comfortable sneakers! We’re going to do some walking!
Start your day by visiting the gingerbread display at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn. Then head out to the dock at
Disney’s BoardWalk to board a boat to Disney’s Beach Club Resort and the adjacent Disney’s Yacht Club Resort to view their gingerbread displays! You’ve now visited three of the six resorts featuring gingerbread displays! After visiting the displays, be sure to grab some lunch at the
Pizza Window when you get back to Disney’s BoardWalk!
If riding the
Disney Skyliner is a priority, this would be the part of the day to do it. You can either walk from Disney’s Boardwalk Inn to the Disney Skyliner station at Disney’s Hollywood Studios or once again take a boat from Disney’s Boardwalk to the Disney Skyliner station at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. You can then board the gondola for a ride through the sky. Angie, if the itinerary feels a bit overwhelming, this might be the part to save for another Disney Day.
Now, let’s head over to
Disney Springs for an afternoon walk along the Christmas Tree Trail! This is one of the best holiday displays at the Walt Disney World Resort! I love that the trees are themed to some of our favorite characters, movies, resorts, and attractions! The Christmas Tree Trail is enough to warm the heart of Uncle Scrooge McDuck!
Let’s begin the final phase of the day by heading over to Disney’s Contemporary Resort! After viewing the gingerbread display at that resort, you can board the Monorail to head on over to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa to enjoy their gingerbread display. Consider a dinner reservation at one of the restaurants in one of the Monorail resorts! All the resort hotels are decorated beautifully for the Christmas season!
Angie, if you’re keeping track, this itinerary has you visiting five of the six resort hotels featuring gingerbread displays this holiday season. The sixth is Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge! This resort wouldn’t quite fit into the itinerary I’ve shared with you.
So, I don’t know if I would call this a “down day” but you’re going to get to experience just about everything on your wish list!
Happy Planning!
Jonathan
