Bright suns, Dona Joan!
It seems you are planning a journey to the
planet Batuu. You are definitely in for a wonderful adventure! Many visitors from off-planet make a point to stop by the
Droid Depot, where you may create your own custom astromech unit. Each custom droid comes with a standard personality built-in. You may also choose to purchase an optional personality-affiliation chip and other accessories to enhance your droid. Though selection may vary, there are as many as eight personality types to choose from, grouped in three categories: Resistance,
First Order, and Scoundrel faction. My daughters selected a black, "First Order" astromech personality chip for their new droid. Once installed in the droid, the chip causes your new companion to make different sounds, unique to its "personality." My daughters' droid sounds slightly more ominous with its personality chip installed. Besides changing their "voices," the personality chips affect droids' behavior when they are within the Black Spire Outpost. For example, a droid with a "Resistance" personality may act excited and happy when nearby the
Resistance encampment. But it may appear anxious and perhaps a little nervous when taken near the area of Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge that is dominated by the
First Order.
Besides updating your droid's personality, there are other ways to immerse yourself into the happenings on Batuu. Using the
Star Wars: Datapad component of the free
Play Disney Parks mobile app, you can help your preferred team vie for control over Black Spire Outpost in "Outpost Control." You may wish to sidle up to the bar at
Oga's Cantina, where my favorite drink is the Blurrgfire. (
Advanced reservations are highly recommended.) And, of course, you'll want to see if you've got what it takes to help crew the "the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy" at
Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run.
'Til the spire, Dona Joan!
