Hi Shirly,
Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! WOW - you took the plunge and decided to go during a very magical week of the year!
It sounds as if you have reserved a room in the Garden Wing. I definitely suggest that you call 407-939-5277 to ask a cast member to note the request on your reservation before you arrive. We always have the request noted, especially when the online system does not include the specific request option that we prefer.
As soon as you can, do online check-in. At times, we receive notification that our room is ready while still in transit to the resort hotel. I always check that room notification to be sure that it is in the area we have requested. If it is not, I call the number listed in the text message and speak with a cast member. Usually, they have been able to accommodate our request, but not always. On a prior stay at Disney's Contemporary Resort Hotel, we received a room in the 6100 section that was on the first floor but they offered to move us to the 5100 section on the second day of our vacation. We chose to keep the first room rather than moving because that particular room had a gorgeous view of Bay Lake!
We actually prefer the Garden Wing to the main tower. Having just stayed in the main tower, we realize that even though the Garden Wing is a little distance from the main tower, we appreciate the quiet after a long day in the parks. And, the Garden Wing rooms typically fit our budget!
Shirly, I do hope you made your advanced dining reservations already. Be sure to make a reservation at
Chef Mickey's! Since you will have access to the resort monorail, also try 'Ohana and 1900 Park Fare. Most of all, take advantage of the walking path from Magic Kingdom. Given the crowds at that time of year, you will appreciate it!
Magic, memories and Minnie Mouse hugs,
Donyell
