I don’t understand how to plan now. Should I book restaurants in advance but how do I know what rides there will be anymore

    Hello, Carolyn!

I am glad that you reached out to planDisney with your question! One of the reasons that I love visiting Walt Disney World Resort is that my family can enjoy our favorite attractions year after year while also exploring new experiences and attractions during many of our visits. Walt Disney said that Disneyland Resort "will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world," and the same is true for Walt Disney World!

I highly recommend making dining reservations in advance if enjoying a Table-Service Restaurant is important to you. There are many great restaurants to choose from! Advanced Dining Reservations can be made up to 60 days ahead of time, and Guests staying at a Disney Resort Hotel can make reservations for the entire length of their stay (up to 10 nights), beginning 60 days before their arrival date. Sometimes my family's plans change during our Walt Disney World trips, which is why I am glad that most dining locations allow cancellations at least 2 hours before the reservation time. Just check the cancellation policy for any dining reservations you make to avoid a cancellation fee, as the policy varies at different restaurants.

It sounds like you want to know how to plan your dining schedule around Disney Genie+ Lightning Lane reservation times. Disney Genie+ is a Fairy Godmother-approved service that allows Guests to skip the standby lines at many attractions. We use it during every trip! Guests can view the next available Lightning Lane reservation time before booking it on the My Disney Experience app. Each Lightning Lane reservation time is provided in one-hour windows, meaning you have one hour to enter the Lightning Lane line during the designated time. If you have a dining reservation during that window, you can look for other attractions that may have an earlier or later reservation time. Or, you can wait until the reservation window moves to later in the day and book it then.

During a few of our visits, our meals ran longer than expected and we missed our Lightning Lane return time. When we finished eating, we headed over to the attraction and explained that our dining reservation prevented us from arriving on time. As long as we showed our dining reservation information to the Cast Member, we were usually allowed to enter the Lightning Lane line. Late admission is not guaranteed, but it never hurts to ask!

Carolyn, I hope your upcoming trip to Walt Disney World Resort is filled with laughter and joy! Please contact planDisney again if you have further questions.
