I don't expect my 2 yo to sit thru a TS meal every day w/ the rest of the family. On a DDP, can I dine with my older sons and order a meal for my wife, have it packaged to go, without her being present? Or does she need to be present to redeem her credits?

    Hi, Matt!

    Great question!

We've had situations where one of us has gotten ill or one of the children needed to take an extended nap and have never had a problem having someone's Table Service meal packaged to-go. Tell your server when ordering that you'll need one meal packaged to-go; he or she will be able to suggest items which will travel better than others. For example, we've ordered milkshakes (offered as a beverage on the Disney Dining Plan) to-go from the always-entertaining Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant at Disney's Hollywood Studios, asking for them to be held until the end of our meal. Does one entree usually come with fries? Ask for a different side to be substituted which may either reheat better (should you be in a WDW Resort hotel with an oven or microwave) or will retain its heat longer (such as a baked potato). That apple pie a la mode? Ask for the pie to packaged in one small container and the ice cream to packaged in another; this will help keep the ice cream from turning into vanilla soup by the time you get it "home".

Have a wonderful trip to Walt Disney World, Matt, and enjoy your Disney Dining Plan! Send more questions as you think of them, especially if you'd like tips on where to get the biggest bang for your Quick Service and Snack credit bucks! I love to help!
