We have done 2 Disney cruises out of Orlando but are planning our first Mexican Riviera cruise out of LA. How does the check in process differ? Is there a Disney desk at LAX? Or will we check in at the port? It is nice to not have to carry bags around!

    Hi, Carrielyn!

Congrats on your Disney cruise to the Mexican Riviera!  My family and I just returned from that itinerary, and we loved soaking up the warm sun while everyone at home was experiencing the onset of autumn winds.

When you arrive at the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), you will need to claim your luggage, and a Disney Cruise Line representative will await you at baggage claim based on the flight information you've provided. We actually flew in the day before our cruise and booked ground transportation to the Disneyland Resort.  We were at our hotel by lunchtime, and because the parks are so close together, we got a great sampling of park hopping before we left for the Port of Los Angeles the next morning.

Although it's nice to not have to deal with the luggage from home airport to stateroom, the Disney Cruise Line folks helped us with the baggage handling and having the Disney cruise tags already on the bags helps expedite things.  Once you're at the cruise terminal, the porters will get your luggage -- so, you may want to be prepared with cash for gratuities. Then, you'll proceed into the terminal to a check-in area which is decidedly Disney! Don't forget to have your cameras handy...because you never know who might welcome you before you board!

I hope this helps you plan, and please let me know what else I can do for you help to assist you in mapping out your vacation. Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation! Bon voyage!
