Are there any “doings” scheduled in March, April or May 2026 at Disney World?—like cheer competitions, marathons, etc? Thanks

Hi there Julianne! Welcome to planDisney. It sounds like you’re getting a head start on planning your Walt Disney World visit for spring 2026, and I love that you're thinking ahead to stay informed about special events. Whether you're hoping to avoid large crowds or are simply curious about what’s happening around the parks during those months, I’d be happy to share what kinds of event, like cheer competitions and runDisney races, you might expect so you can plan with confidence.

There are several major events typically scheduled at Walt Disney World during March, April, and May annually. While Disney has not officially released a full calendar that far in advance, historical patterns and some early confirmations give us a good idea of what to expect.

In March 2026, there are currently no confirmed cheerleading competitions or runDisney marathons. However, March is a peak month for spring break travel, which means the parks can be quite crowded. It’s also likely that EPCOT’s International Flower & Garden Festival will begin in early March and continue through the spring. There may be smaller youth sports events at ESPN Wide World of Sports, but nothing on the scale of national cheer or marathon weekends is expected in March.

April is typically packed with events. The runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend generally occurs in mid-April, bringing in thousands of runners and their families. Toward the end of April, ESPN Wide World of Sports hosts several large cheerleading events. These include the ICU Junior World & World Cheerleading Championships as well as The Cheerleading Worlds. These competitions usually happen around April 22 to 27. Easter, if it falls in April that year, is also celebrated with themed treats and entertainment in the parks. EPCOT’s Flower & Garden Festival is in full swing throughout the month.

In May 2026, The Summit Cheerleading Championship will take place April 30th – May 3, 2026 at ESPN. This is a major event that draws large crowds of athletes and spectators. May 4 brings Star Wars Day, which is celebrated especially at Hollywood Studios with themed merchandise and entertainment. The EPCOT Flower & Garden Festival continues through May, typically ending in early June. The end of the month brings Memorial Day weekend, which serves as the unofficial start to summer at Disney World. While not as event heavy as April, May still features popular festivities and seasonal programs, particularly tied to youth sports and holiday weekend crowds.

Julianne, I hope this gives you a clearer picture of what to expect during your spring 2026 visit. Whether you’re looking to join the excitement or plan around the busier event weekends, knowing what’s on the calendar can help make your trip as smooth and magical as possible. Thanks so much for stopping by planDisney! If more questions come up as your plans take shape, we’re always here to help. Wishing you a truly unforgettable and pixie-dusted vacation!
