I am doing the tinkerbell half in may and it will be my first. Do you recommend doing a day in the park before the run or save it for the day after? Im nervous

    Hi Aimee!

Thank you for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

Tinker Bell Half Marathon is such a fun race weekend!  You're going to love it.  It's a great course with (usually) perfect weather.

I have visited parks before and after half marathons on multiple occasions. If your schedule is flexible, I recommend going to a park after the race (either the day of your race or the next day).  Here are some advantages (in my opinion) of doing that:

    * Probably the most obvious ... you legs will be better rested for the run.
    * Your race will be over, meaning you will no longer be nervous and will have cause to celebrate!
    * You can eat more adventurously. It's never a good idea to eat certain types of foods the day before a race, but the day after is fair game!
    * Parks tend to be less crowded.  Most people go to the parks leading up to the race and leave Sunday after the half marathon.  Sunday and Monday should see the parks to have lower crowd levels.

If you can't go after the race, it's still fine to go!  I do it a lot.  But if you want my honest preference, it would be to go after.

I hope this helps!  Please let me know if you have any other questions.
