Doing a split stay. Can we utilize the extended magic hours at Magic Kingdom on our check out day of the deluxe resort/check in day to the value resort? How would we get back to the new hotel since it is a value resort since all buses will be deluxe buses?

    Hi Melinda,

Welcome back to planDisney! With your visit to the Most Magical Place On Earth just over a week away, I can imagine the excitement is starting to build. And would you believe it, your new favorite planDisney pal, moi, will also be visiting during that time and doing a split stay, so your question is right in my wheelhouse!

As long as you’re checked in at a Disney Deluxe Resort or Disney Deluxe Villa Resort on the day of the event, even if it’s your check-out day, you’re still eligible to enjoy those extra magical nighttime hours. So yes, if Magic Kingdom is offering Extended Evening Hours on your check-out day from your Deluxe stay, you’re more than welcome to take advantage before transitioning to your Value Resort for the rest of your vacation. Just be sure your park ticket is valid for that day and that you’ve scanned into Magic Kingdom earlier that evening.

Now, when those final fireworks fade and your feet start reminding you how much fun you’ve had, you might be wondering how to get back to your new home-away-from-home. While Extended Evening Hours transportation is typically geared toward Deluxe Resorts, you're not out of luck. Resort buses generally run up to an hour after the event wraps up. Say you just missed the bus to your new resort and you can’t wait to lay your head down on your pillow fast enough, you can still board a bus to a nearby Deluxe Resort and then use a ride share, taxi, or Minnie Van service via the Lyft app to reach your Value Resort. Alternatively, you could take a bus to Disney Springs and then transfer to your new resort from there. It might take a bit more time, but it’ll get you where you need to go with a little extra pixie dust.

If you need help piecing together those final details for your trip, feel free to write right back to me. I’d love to help you make the most of every moment, from sunrise rope drops to those extended evenings in the parks.

    See you real soon!
