Hiya Robert,
Welcome to planDisney! With so many incredible resorts in the Walt Disney World Resort Collection, a split stay is an ideal way to experience as many as possible. My family and I love the deluxe resorts, but it doesn’t always fit into our budget to spend a week-long vacation in one; with a split stay, we can still get a chance to experience a deluxe resort for a couple of days while not spending our entire budget on our resort stay.
One of the best things about a split stay is that if both of your hotel reservations are for Walt Disney World Resort Collection Hotels (such as
Disney’s Port Orleans – French Quarter and
Disney’s Port Orleans – Riverside), then you can have your luggage transferred. To do so, you must drop off your baggage at
Bell Services of your first resort on the day you check out and request luggage transfer to the next one. Just make sure to confirm what time your luggage needs to be at Bell Services the night before. I forgot to do that during one of my visits and missed taking advantage of this service. It usually takes several hours for your luggage to arrive at your next resort, so I highly recommend keeping any items you need for the day. Once you arrive at your new resort, you can check in with Bell Services to see if your luggage is ready for pick up or ask for your luggage to be delivered to your room!
I hope this was helpful, Robert! Before I let you go, one of my favorite thing about staying at the two Port Orleans Resorts is that you can walk between the two. This is perfect if you want to enjoy a Jambalaya or Mickey Beignet at Disney’s Port Orleans – French Quarter and you are staying at Disney’s Port Orleans – Riverside; you are just a quick 10-15 minute walk away. It also has the added benefit of being super peaceful. If you need anything else, please come back and see
us.
Happy Planning,
Ashley F.
