Welcome to planDisney, Amy!
Staying on-site at Walt Disney World is always the easiest way to make the most of a trip, and doing a split stay between resorts is something my family tries to do whenever we can. It's fun to enjoy the unique vibes of different Disney Resort hotels. For example,
Disney's All-Star Music has that playful, groovy energy, whilst
Disney's Yacht Club Resort feels a little more relaxing and "posh" (as we say in England). Split stays let you mix it up without losing any of the
perks of staying on property, which is why we do it whenever the chance arises.
Disney does still offer luggage transfer between resorts, and I always take advantage of it. When you check out of Disney's All-Star Music Resort, you can request that your bags be sent to Disney's Yacht Club Resort. You'll drop them off at
Bell Services, and your bags will be waiting for you at your new hotel—usually within a few hours. You'll just need to stop by Bell Services at your new resort to pick them up. It's super convenient, especially when you want to hit the parks right away without dragging all your suitcases.
You might want to label your bags clearly with your name and resort info (Disney provides tags at check-in) and pack anything you'll need for the day in a small carry-on. That way, if your luggage takes a little longer to arrive than expected, you've still got what you need to enjoy the day stress-free.
