I am doing some research into a character meal for my 2 1/2 year old son for our first visit in Jan 2013. I can't see anywhere if we would have to pay for him or whether he can eat from our food. We are thinking Chef Mickeys so as its a buffet. Is this ok?

The good news, Helen, is that children under the age of three eat for free at all buffet and family-style meal locations.  The only time you'll be charged for his meal is when you order a meal for him at restaurants that serve a la carte (where you choose from a menu).  Because Chef Mickey's is a buffet, your little guy would not be charged to eat there.  It's a great choice for a first character meal, too; that's where my three daughters first ate with Mickey.  Have a great time!
