Ahoy Meaghan!
Bravo! A
land and sea vacation is a wonderful way to have the best of both worlds! Even better that it will be a land-sea-land combination. Now that's what I call the ultimate split stay!
After consulting with my Disney Cruise Line sources, here's the skinny: there is no guarantee that luggage can be stored. It is handled on case by case basis, depending on occupancy of the resorts and storage availability at the initial resort. Makes sense, right? If Bell Services IS able to hold the luggage, it would be held at the initial resort until the day of check in at the second Walt Disney World resort.
So this is what I suggest: 1) Always ask! It never hurts to make the request that your luggage be stored and then transferred over to your post-cruise resort. That should be one of the first things you do when you arrive at your
Walt Disney World resort. 2) If it's a no, then don't panic. There are some workarounds that will make life easier for you during your cruise.
First, plan on doing some
laundry while onboard and pack accordingly. All Disney ships have laundry facilities and the self-service laundry will be charged directly to your stateroom. Currently, washers and dryers cost $3 per cycle for each machine, and laundry detergent and dryer sheets are $1 per cycle. Keep in mind that prices are subject to change, so the self-service laundry screen will show the current prices.
Second, I'd suggest consolidating some of your clothes and items needed in a way where you can simply store unneeded items in your luggage while on the cruise. There's ample space under the stateroom beds for suitcases as well as closet space. Simply put away those belongings that won't be needed during your adventure at sea and wait to pull them back out when you return to Walt Disney World.
Finally, Disney Cruise Line delivers the luggage to and from your stateroom for you, so it's not like having the extra bags is a major inconvenience. I call it stow and go: stow those bags and go about your cruise activities! Speaking of that, keep track of all the activities and entertainment onboard with the
Disney Cruise Line Navigator app. It helps me stay on top of everything I want to do on the cruise because I can set reminders and the app will make sure I don't miss a thing!
Meaghan, store those great questions and deliver them back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel anytime. Have a DREAMy voyage!
Happy Sailing!
