PhotoPass would be a great addition to a Disney cruise, however it is currently not offered on the Disney ships.
The photo packages aboard the Disney Cruise are separate from the PhotoPass packages offered at Walt Disney World.
Professional photographers will be taking photos of your family boarding the ship, at character Meet n Greets, during dinner, on Castaway Cay and for other occasions such as formal night.
The Disney Magic is offering a system that is similar to PhotoPass. During some portrait sessions, your Key to the World card is scanned. There are kiosks in front of Shutters for viewing your photographs. Currently, you must view and purchase pictures during your cruise as there is no option to later go online and view these portraits. I found the kiosk very simple to use.
While prices are subject to change, photo packages begin at $84.95 (for five 8x10 photos or ten 6x8 photos) and go up to $299.95 (for twenty 6x8 photos and fifteen 8x10s). In addition, you’ll have the opportunity to purchase Personalized Disney cards for sending holiday or other special greetings to friends and family.
Here’s my strategy:
When Shutters (the photo store) is not crowded, I’ll wander in and look over our photographs. I will then toss out any that did not turn out well. I’ll keep any portraits that I may wish to purchase on the appropriate shelves. Avoid browsing before or after dinner when Shutters is extremely crowded.
In the event that your family wasn’t as photogenic as you had anticipated, packages are refundable! You can also downgrade or upgrade your package to accommodate the number of photos that you end up wanting to purchase.
