Will be doing our FIRST trip to WDW May 15-21 to celebrate my birthday and our anniversary. My fiancee has celiac so we will be eating gluten free on our trip. We are staying off resort at the Wyndham DTD. Any advice on "don't miss" things?

Hi James! Happy Birthday, First Walt Disney World Visit AND Anniversary! WOW!

Since you mentioned that you are staying in the Downtown Disney Area, be sure to visit Babycakes for some delicious gluten-free dessert items for your finance! The Babycake Bakery also recently started offering special dietary cakes that serve 8-10 people and can be ordered to coincide with your already booked Advance Dining Reservation at a Walt Disney World restaurant. Just call the bakery at 407-938-9044 with at least a week’s notice and have your restaurant confirmation number, date, and reservation time handy. What a wonderful surprise for your fiancee to have an anniversary cake (and a Happy Birthday cake for you) that you both can enjoy delivered to your table at the end of a meal!

For gluten free table-service meals, simply call (407) WDW-DINE or (407) 939-3463 and have the cast member note your fiancee's allergy on your dining reservations. If booking online, select "I have special requests or a food allergy" and then, Wheat (Gluten). You may also wish to check out this list of quick-service locations at the theme parks that, upon request, may accommodate guests' common food allergy or intolerance requirements.

For some incredible "don't miss" ideas, you'll want to check out this recent Moms View question that was answered by several Walt Disney World Moms Panelists. You'll find plenty of adult-oriented activities for sprinkling extra pixie dust on your celebration!

Thanks for visiting us and feel free to send more questions our way in the days leading up to your May Disney vacation!
