Hi....I am doing my first DisneyRun in the Princess 5k this year. I am sooooo excited. I am, however, concerned. I am a severely overweight and am afraid I will be too slow. If they have to pick me up, will I still receive my medal? I would be disappointed

Hi Suzanne!  Congratulations to you on committing to run in the 5K.  Fun races are a great way to stay active, whether you are trying to lose weight or just lead a healthy lifestyle.  First, let me encourage you to think positive.  There will be participants in the 5K of all different ages, body types, levels, etc.  You won't be the only one walking it or running it slowly.  (my "running" pace is really not significantly faster than my "walking" pace, but that's OK!  I am still moving my body)  So, I wouldn't worry too much about being picked up.  You will have adrenaline on your side, and running through Disney is not the same as the boring training runs leading up to it, so you may surprise yourself!  Also, I suggest that you position yourself as close to the front of your starting group as possible.  The pace timers won't begin their sweeping in the back until the last participant has started.  The last group will be the stroller group, so you will at least start a few minutes ahead of all of them.  And the closer you get to the front of your pack at the start, the better.
And lastly, if for some reason, you are having a bad day ( and believe me, that happens to EVERYONE), you will still get your medal.  Anyone who starts the race will receive a medal.  At runDisney, it is truly about doing the best you can do, not about winning or going fast.  If you see me around on race morning, give me shout out.  You can encourage me and I will encourage you!
