We are doing the fireworks cruise and departing from the Contemporary. Are we able to park there in the morning so we don’t have to move our car while we spend the day in Magic Kingdom?

    Hi Tom!

Thanks for visiting planDisney!  Your Walt Disney World Resort is just days away!  Have you packed those mouse ears yet?

Tom, you'll absolutely love viewing Happily Ever After from Seven Seas Lagoon.  My family took a fireworks cruise several years ago and it was a beautiful way to experience the fireworks.  Just make sure you have some tissues handy - I always find myself tearing up during the show!

Unfortunately, while parking at Disney's Contemporary Resort will be complimentary during your reserved fireworks cruise, you are not able to access that free parking during your day at Magic Kingdom Park.  While this may not be the news you were hoping for, I can share another option.  If you are a guest of a hotel in the Disney Resorts Collection, theme park parking is complimentary with your stay so you can park at the Transportation and Ticket Center while enjoying the park, walk or take the monorail to the resort for your cruise, and then head back to the Transportation and Ticket Center after your cruise returns.  If you are staying offsite there will be a parking fee charged for theme park parking, but the plan would work the same.  The monorail runs up until one hour after the park closes so you should be able to return in time following your cruise.  If you'd prefer, you could move your car to the resort before setting sail so that you are closer when your evening ends.

You'll be ending your day in the most magical of ways, but I also wanted to remind you of all of the great entertainment throughout Magic Kingdom Park during your day.  The Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade is a must-see on each of my trips.  I love the catchy music, whimsical costumes, and of course, waving to all of my favorite character friends!  If you've purchased Disney Genie+, you could choose to use one of your Lightning Lane selections for reserved seating at the parade.  We especially liked using this option when my kids were younger so they would have a VIP view!  Mickey's Magical Friendship Faire takes place on the stage in front of Cinderella Castle several times a day.  When we need a break from running around the park, I like to grab a Mickey-shaped pretzel and relax for a few minutes to the familiar songs and entertaining performances.

Tom, I hope this helps you plan a day full of entertainment and magical memories!  Please stop by and see me or any of my panelist pals if you have any other vacation planning questions in the future!

    See ya real soon,
