Ahoy there Cassandra, and welcome back to planDisney!
There's something extra special about adding an additional Walt Disney World Resort stay following a Disney Cruise Line voyage, which I always like to think of as having a bonus vacation! (Considering how busy and jam-packed
a voyage on the Disney Wish can be within a short amount of time, sometimes you just might need a vacation
from the vacation and having
Ground Transportation booked through Disney Cruise Line to whisk you away worry-free is definitely a plus!) I recently had the opportunity to have a
Disney Resort Stay on both ends of a Disney Cruise Line trip thanks to planDisney, and I'm happy to share what the experience is like with Ground Transportation as you leave the ship on debarkation morning:
- The instructions you'll receive ahead of your last evening on board will provide information about properly tagging your luggage to be collected by the crew outside of your stateroom. Everything collected is offloaded into the terminal on the morning that you arrive (which keen-eyed guests may be able to spot in progress as the sun rises over Port Canaveral).
- Unfortunately, guest luggage is not currently delivered automatically through to Disney Resort Hotels as seamlessly as the experience is the opposite way going from Walt Disney World Resort to board the ship. You'll still be required to collect these in the terminal itself before proceeding through Customs and onward to your waiting motorcoach, but there are also porters who may be available to help that folks and families are happy to tip for their service!
Personally, I almost always prefer the convenience and ease of using the Express Walk-Off option that you'll see outlined in the Debarkation information you'll receive just for the chance to avoid waiting in lengthy queues on board but the caveat is that despite being among the first to board the motorcoach headed for our Resort Hotel we still had to wait a considerable amount of time for it to fill up with other guests before it departed. (I recommend keeping this in mind when you're weighing your options of where you'd rather spend more of your time that morning!)
I hope this helps Cassandra, and that you'll be able to enjoy the
EPCOT International Festival of the Arts as you return from your voyage! Don't hesitate to come back again to planDisney to ask about any other questions specific to Disney Cruise Line for our specialists at sea to answer!
Here's to having multiple vacations in one trip!
