Hi Denise, and welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. Congratulations on sticking to your wellness goals, and kudos to you for creating a plan for your upcoming vacation. I'm chEARing you on and wishing you much success!
Disney is committed to providing healthier options for Guests. Look for the
Disney Check symbol on menus, which indicates that the menu item meets Disney's nutritional standards. You can learn more about those standards by downloading the
Nutrition Guideline Criteria.
You're also welcome to bring your own snacks in to the theme parks. While you'll be able to find fruit, veggie and hummus cups, and other more healthful snack options, you may prefer bringing your own snacks in your park bag. Portion sizes can be large, so sharing meals or eating a kids' meal are strategies that work for many health-minded Guests.
The Disney Parks Blog did a nice story on
nutritious and delicious options in Disney Springs, and there are plenty of restaurants around the parks and resorts that offer lighter options. I usually walk more than 20,000 steps in my theme park days, and I drink lots of water throughout the day. This helps balance some of the, ahem, more indulgent snack or meal choices I might make. My very favorite Disney snack is the iconic pineapple Dole Whip, and the great news is that it comes in under 100 calories. That means I can have several every day, right?
I see that you are counting down the HOURS to your Walt Disney World Vacation, Denise. Travel safely, and cheers to your good health and a lovely visit to The Most Magical Place on Earth.
Wishing you a magical - and healthful - vacation,
Robyn
