Ahoy! Welcome to planDisney, Gwyn! What a magical adventure you have coming up on Disney Cruise Line! I'm so excited for you. Sailing onboard a Disney Cruise has been the vacation of a lifetime for our family where, it seems, all our dreams come true at sea.
Thank you for cruising by with your great questions, Gwyn. Sounds like you're interested in learning more about the transportation options to and from your Disney Cruise. I'm happy to help!
According to the Mears Connect website, there are two ground transportation options provided from Orlando to Port Canaveral which include a Chauffeur-Driven Car Service and a Mears Taxi, but no bus service. If ground transportation on a bus is more your speed, Gwyn, Disney Cruise Line does offer
ground transportation to and from any
Disney World hotel to Port Canaveral, as well as to and from the cruise terminal to the Orlando Airport. You must reserve your spot on the bus in advance by adding to your cruise reservation, which does include a per-person fee. What I love about ground transportation through Disney is, after reserving your spot on the bus, it's nothing but smooth sailing from there as you'll be completely taken care of from start to finish.
Another transportation option you may be considering, Gwyn, is traveling to Port Canaveral by car. One of the benefits, I've found, of having our own (rented) car is the option to sightsee in and around the area before or after our Disney Cruise. My family enjoys the opportunity to stretch out our vacation just a little longer by taking in a few local sights or attractions before we fly back home.
If you do decide to go by car, Gwyn, it may be helpful to know that
the parking garage at Port Canaveral opens at 10:15am for those beginning their cruise that day and is conveniently located right next to the cruise terminal. You will pay the daily rate of $17 when you arrive, which includes the day of arrival and the day of departure. (Rates are always subject to change.) Make sure you have a credit card available, as paying with cash is not accepted. Find the terminal address, and other helpful parking details, on
the Disney Cruise Line website under "Arrival Information."
I've done both Disney ground transportation as well as driving in and parking at the port for my sailings on Disney Cruise Line, and there are plusses to either option. You can't go wrong!
I hope this has been helpful information for your planning, Gwyn. Remember, no matter how you end up getting to your Disney Cruise, what matters most is that you're there - having an adventure of a lifetime. I sincerely wish you the most magical voyage.
