Ahoy there Rebecca and welcome aboard planDisney!
I bet you're getting ready to sail the shimmering seas on board the
Disney Dream this summer, as Disney Cruise Line celebrates its
25th Silver Anniversary at Sea! From what I can see, you'll have a fantastic itinerary in store as you embark on a
10-Night Iceland, Norway and France Cruise from Southampton ending in Copenhagen and while these northern itineraries typically do not have fireworks launched from the ship due to local regulations and environmental concerns, guests and crew alike were treated to stellar sights of the Northern Lights last summer as they made their way between
Reykjavik and
Akureyri. I personally love these cruises for the diverse Ports of Call and the sense of adventure on Icelandic shores, but be prepared for slightly more exuberant seas on the way there!
At the current time there aren't too many published details on the themed nights so far, especially as it will be the Disney Dream's maiden voyage on this particular itinerary but here are the most recent updates that may be useful to you:
- There is a suggested Formal Attire evening on Sunday, July 23rd - the evening that you depart from Cherbourg, France. A Semi-Formal night later on during your voyage is set for Saturday, July 29th and either of these evenings may be the perfect time for the ship to celebrate the Shimmering Seas Soirée hosted by the Captain and Cruise Director.
- Keep an eye out for another evening featuring a Frozen-themed party up on deck: Freezing the Night Away with Anna, Elsa and Friends. Historically, this does not tend to take place while the ship is docked in Ports with later All Aboard times and on your itinerary the majority of your destinations allow guests to return later in the evening. This gives you the opportunity to show off any warm-weather gear that you may have picked up along the way to feel like an honorary citizen of Arendelle! (Frozen-themed evenings are typically celebrated in place of Pirate Night, especially in cooler climates.)
It is important to note that offerings and activities are always subject to change without prior notice, especially when it comes to voyages that are longer and have a bit more flexibility than the standard shorter sailings in the Caribbean. I highly recommend making sure that you have the
Disney Cruise Line Navigator App downloaded ahead of time and ready to refresh once you embark on the first day of your sailing. This will ensure that you've got a keen eye on the horizon for the themed evenings in the days ahead, but keep an eye for any emails and communications that you may receive directly from Disney Cruise Line leading up to your journey!
