Hi there, Claire! Welcome to planDisney!
A Port Adventure is just one more way to add extra magic and adventure to an already magical Disney cruise! There are so many fun Port Adventures available at each Port of Call, and they have allowed my family to experience so much of what these destinations offer. They’ve also been a great way for us to have different experiences at Ports of Call that we sail to often. I would be happy to explain how the Port Adventure timing works once you reserve it.
As you’ve seen already, each
Port Adventure description mentions the length of time that it takes to experience it from start to finish. This timeline is pretty accurate to the actual experience.
On the day that you visit each Port of Call, the All Ashore time is the time that guests who would like to get off the ship may do so, and the All Aboard time is the time that they need to be back on board.
Once you reserve your Port Adventure with Disney Cruise Line in the “My Plans” section of your reservation, either in the
Disney Cruise Line Navigator App or the Disney Cruise Line website, you can rest assured that Disney Cruise Line will take care of the rest of the details. You don’t have to worry about walking off by yourself at 8:30 AM or making sure you’re back on board no later than 4:30 PM, because Disney Cruise Line will make sure you’re off and on the ship by the recommended times. This is one of the benefits of scheduling your Port Adventure with Disney Cruise Line, as it makes it all the more worry-free!
On the day you’re scheduled for the Port Adventure, you will meet with a group made up of Disney Cruise Line Crew Members and any other guests who are also taking part in the Port Adventure with you. During your cruise, you will receive the specific meeting time and place on board to meet this group in a message through the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App. It might be around 8:30 AM or even a bit later. Though I suspect it will be about the same as the suggested All Ashore time, based on the longer five-hour length of the Port Adventure.
Now, let's say that you change your mind and decide not to take part in a Port Adventure. It's absolutely not required that you get off the ship for any reason. You can use it as a Sea Day if you like, and
enjoy more of what your beautiful Disney cruise ship has to offer. Or you could explore the Port of Call on your own, in which case you can choose what time you would like to get off the ship, keeping in mind that 4:30 All Aboard time. I've done all of the above, and even got off the ship, taken a walk at the port for 30 minutes, grabbed some local coffee, and got back on.
Finally, if you have any questions about your Port Adventure once you board the ship, I recommend stopping by the
Port Adventures Desk any time during your cruise. The knowledgeable Crew Members are always happy to answer your questions!
Claire, I hope that I helped you feel more at ease about the timing of the Port Adventure. I wish you such wonderful memories ahead! Please sail back to planDisney if you have any other questions.
Seas the Adventure,
Rana
