We are doing an Alaska cruise this year with a 4 year old. We have an excursion that includes a motor coach one way and a shuttle bus back. Do we need a car seat?

Hi, Kaitlyn! Welcome to planDisney. I’m so happy you thought to cruise to us with your question.

It won’t be long till you are heading to Alaska for an adventure on the high seas! I’d love to help you plan for the fun!

I had a similar question when I was setting sail on my first Disney Cruise with a toddler. What I found was that most car seats are not compatible with motor coaches. We opted to have our child sit on our laps while we were traveling by bus for our Port Adventures. Through my research, I did find there are some travel-friendly options if you’d like to pack a car seat, however, I can’t speak to if they will actually be able to be secured to the vehicle in which you will be traveling. A car seat will not be required, so please choose an option that you feel most comfortable with.

I hope you are getting excited about your upcoming voyage! It won’t be long till you are stepping foot on the beautiful Disney Wonder. Luckily for you, you will be able to enjoy the Silver Anniversary at Sea limited-time entertainment and offerings as Disney Cruise Line is celebrating 25 magical years of cruising.

If you haven’t already done so, please download the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app. The app will be your first mate as you navigate your sailing crew toward all of the happenings on the ship. One exciting offering onboard is the Frozen-themed Deck Party! Be prepared to bundle up and join Anna, Elsa, and Friends to Freeze the Night Away.

    Have so much fun!
