My dog is a service animal and is under 20lbs. What do I need to show to bring her to Disneyland?

Hello and welcome to planDisney, Darlene. Thanks for visiting us with your wonderful question.

As Walt said in 1955 during the dedication and opening ceremony at Disneyland Park, "To all who come to this happy place: Welcome. Disneyland is your land." Your furry friend (and service animal) is most certainly welcome. At the Disneyland Resort, a service animal is defined as any dog or miniature horse trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability. I chatted with a friendly Cast Member who confirmed that you do not need to bring any documentation. Just be sure to familiarize yourself with the rules that you must retain control of your animal at all times and they need to be kept on a leash or harness at all times when visiting.

Make sure to download the Disneyland app for your visit. It's a helpful tool that I use during all of my visits with a map of the resort, attraction wait times and (my favorite) the feature to mobile order food and beverage to avoid any kind of "hangry" situations. You can also search for "Service Animals" in the app to locate all of the Service Animal Relief Areas at the resort.

There's so much magic in store at the Disneyland Resort in 2024 and it looks like your visit will fall right when Pixar Fest is in full swing. I'm really looking forward to the return of this celebration of fun and friendship. I can't think of a better way to celebrate your friendship with your service dog. If this is your first visit to the Disneyland Resort, be sure to stop by City Hall in Disneyland Park or the Chamber of Commerce in Disney California Adventure Park for a complimentary "1st Visit!" button. You can get one for yourself and one for your loyal and furry friend.

Well, Darlene, I hope this helps you feel prepared as you are planning your magical visit. Come back to see us with any other questions you might be curious about. Here's wishing you a most magical visit to the Happiest Place on Earth.

    Happy planning!
