Hiya, Monica!
That’s a great question. I’m glad you brought it to the Disney Parks Moms Panel for clarification. At this time, military discounts at the Disneyland Resort are offered to members of the United States armed services who are
active duty, 100% veteran disabled, or who are fully retired with 20 years or more of service with
valid ID indicating their status. Some benefits available on-base or on-post may also be accessible to certain disabled veterans with
Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) or Commissary access.
While a green-striped contractor Department of Defence Common Access Card (DoD CAC) is not sufficient for accessing discounts and benefits for active-duty and retired members of the military, it may still be useful as a form of ID in some situations. However, I have personally found that there are other situations for which a DoD CAC may not be an adequate form of ID. For example, if the address of residence must be verified, such as for redeeming the current
Southern California Resident Ticket Offer, another form of government-issued ID showing the current address must be used. Or if proof of age is required, such as to indicate eligibility to purchase alcoholic beverages, a DoD CAC must clearly indicate the bearer’s age. Since contractor CACs do not include birthdate information, that is another case where an alternate form of identification will be required.
Tony's Tip: There are still various
discounts and offers available to all guests of the Disneyland Resort. My primary method to save up for our visits to The Happiest Place on Earth is to collect
Disney Gift Cards. With a fixed number of gift cards, I know exactly what our vacation budget is. And I save on vacation expenses by purchasing Disney Gift Cards at a discount from local retailers or wholesale warehouse stores. Disney Gift Cards can be used on many different purchases, including
theme park tickets,
Disneyland Resort Hotel rooms,
Vacation Packages,
dining,
shopping, and more.
I hope you have a magical visit to the Disneyland Resort, Monica!
