    What documents are needed for a 6 year old that does not have a passport accompanied by his father?

    Ahoy there, Sugeida!  Thank you for bringing your question to planDisney!

    It is very important to know what travel documentation is needed prior to your cruise.  Without it, you can be denied boarding at the port.  I am unsure which itinerary your son and his father are traveling on, so I will share a few things:
    • If your son is a U.S. Citizen and traveling with his father on a closed-looped cruise (meaning the cruise begins and ends at the same U.S. port) or a one-way cruise to or from the Caribbean or The Bahamas, he will need his original state-issued birth certificate.  Please note that if his father does not have a passport either, he will not only need his original state-issued birth certificate but also his physical government-issued photo ID (digital/mobile state-issued IDs are not acceptable to sail), which is a requirement for all Guests 16  years of age and older.
    • For European cruises and Transatlantic cruises, a passport that is valid at least 6 months after the sailing has ended is required.
    • For Disney Magic at Sea sailings in Australia and New Zealand, there are some differences depending on the itinerary.
