With DL’s Haunted Mansion shutting down Jan 7th to go back to the regular ride, when will it reopen? I was hoping to see the Hat Box Ghost. I’ll be there during DL race weekend and I hope the ride will be open by then. I’ve never been on this ride in CA.

Welcome to planDisney, foolish mortal! Oops! I mean....Welcome to planDisney, Sheila! I'm so glad you found us to ask this great question about visiting the Haunted Mansion at the Disneyland Resort!

Having visited Walt Disney World many times over the years, I can understand why you would want to experience the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland Park and see the Hatbox Ghost! You are correct that Haunted Mansion Holiday will close its doors at the end of the Holidays on January 7th, 2024. Unfortunately, we don't have an exact date for when the ghosts at Haunted Mansion will materialize after the holiday season ends, but it is usually around mid-January. It takes a little while for our Ghost Hosts to clean up all of the halls that Jack Skellington wrecked, but it's possible they will have the hinges creaking and the candlelights flickering as soon as possible. I recommend checking the Daily Events Schedule once the start of your visit is six weeks out. You can find a list of attractions, if any, that will be closed for refurbishment.

I'm hopeful that your Doom Buggy will be waiting for you after the runDisney Half Marathon Weekend! As you know, there are 999 happy haunts that are dying to meet you....but there’s always room for one more! If by chance you don't get to join the hitchhiking ghosts during the race weekend, there will be a great reason to hurry back! The Haunted Mansion is taking over more of New Orleans Square in 2024 and there will be a new retail shop too. Be sure to check out this article from Disney Parks Blog!

    Happy Planning!
