    We have DLR resv’s for NYE and Storytellers dinner resv that evening. Does Disneyland stop letting people in at a certain time (because i know it’s so busy on NYE) or will we be okay to go to dinner and then return to the park after? Thanks so much!

    Happy New Year! The Disneyland Resort is a great place to celebrate. My family and I visited the Disneyland Resort a few years ago for New Year’s Eve celebrations and had a wonderful time.

    The technical answer to your question is that theme park admission at the Disneyland Resort is subject to capacity. So, for the safety of all Guests, access to a given park may be limited or unavailable if the park is full until enough Guests leave the park to allow space for others to enter.

    Park admission restrictions are rare. Fortunately, the theme park reservation system helps to make that situation far less likely. However, I can’t predict for certain whether Guests with Park Hopper tickets may tend to favor one park or the other, possibly leading to different levels of admission limits at one of the parks.

    But I also don’t want to dissuade you from enjoying your meal at the beautiful Storytellers Cafe. Here are some thoughts that I hope will ease your mind and allow you to relax and enjoy your dinner.

    • As mentioned before, the limited number of theme park reservations helps ensure a higher likelihood that all Guests with a theme park reservation will be able to enjoy their experience at the Disneyland Resort.
    • New Year’s Eve celebrations at the Disneyland Resort include activities at different hours. For example inside Disneyland Park, there is usually a midnight countdown to the New Year for the Eastern Time Zone followed immediately by the scheduled 9:00 PM Pacific Time presentation of the New Year’s Eve Fantasy in the Sky Fireworks Spectacular. Many Guests with tired little ones (or even tired older ones!) opt to leave the parks after these earlier “midnight” celebrations. Which would likely clear space for more Guests to enter if the park was full before that. That’s what my family did during our last New Year’s Eve visit so we could watch the later fireworks show from our Downtown Disney District view room at the Disneyland Hotel.
    • If you have Park Hopper tickets, I’m confident that access will be available to at least one of the theme parks throughout the night. I recognize that many Guests prefer to be in Disneyland Park for the midnight celebration. But Disney California Adventure Park also has wonderful entertainment, including the Disney Festival of Holidays, which is scheduled to continue until 1:00 AM that night. And, although it was not indicated on the daily entertainment schedule, our family spied a beautiful New Year’s Eve pyrotechnics display at midnight coming from Disney California Adventure Park as we watched from our hotel room. It was a wonderful surprise that made me feel so happy that the Guests in that park had such a wonderful surprise to enjoy as they welcomed the new year.
