How do Disneyworld park tickets work? Do you have to decide beforehand which park you are going to on each day you're at the resort? Or can you choose the morning of and just go to that park, then stay there for the day?

Hey there, Matthew! Welcome back to planDisney!

It sounds like you've had some magical experiences at Disneyland in the past, and now you're ready to make the jump to the best coast (ask my planDisney pal, Mellissa H)—the east coast—to visit The Most Magical Place on Earth! Let me help you get started by explaining how Walt Disney World Theme Park Tickets work and what options you have.

Walt Disney World offers a few different types of tickets, each designed to fit different styles of vacationing. The basic ticket would be the 1-Day/1 Park Per Day ticket. With this, you select the park you want to visit when purchasing, thus creating a "reservation" that would require you to visit that park only on that specific date. If you are buying a standard multi-day ticket, you do not have to decide which park you want to visit in advance. Each morning, you can choose which park to enjoy that day and stay there as long as you like! The only exception is during peak holiday times, such as Thanksgiving or Christmas, when certain parks may reach capacity and require you to plan ahead.

If you love the idea of visiting more than one park per day, then the Park Hopper Option might be perfect for you. With this add-on, you can start your day in one park and then "hop" to another (or even multiple), as long as the parks have availability. My family always adds the Park Hopper Option to our tickets because we love the flexibility! We like to rope-drop our favorite attraction, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, then take a mid-day Disney Resort pool break before heading to another park. We often cap off our evenings at Magic Kingdom to watch Happily Ever After light up the night sky!

For even more fun, consider the Water Park and Sports Option or the Park Hopper Plus Option. The Water Park and Sports Option allows you to visit one theme park per day while also giving you access to extra experiences like Disney's Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon Water Parks, ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, and more! The Park Hopper Plus Option combines all the benefits of the Park Hopper Option with additional visits to these exciting locations, making it an excellent choice for those wanting to add a splash of adventure to their vacation.

I'd be happy to assist you if you're looking for more personalized planning help! I can recommend a Disney Resorts Collection hotel based on your park preferences, help you map out your must-do attractions, craft a park itinerary, suggest the best dining spots, and more. Just submit another question, and I'll guide you through each step of planning your Walt Disney World vacation!

    See you real soon!
