Hi, Gretchen! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.
My family and I love our annual
Walt Disney World Resort trips during Thanksgiving week! Over the years, though, we've experienced everything from shorts-and-t-shirt weather to sweaters and jeans. At that time of year, only one of the Water Parks is typically open as the other undergoes its annual refurbishment. An unusual cold snap in 2018 did close
Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park for two days in late November and another day with highs in the 50s closed
Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park in January of this year.
Since the weather can be unpredictable, I'd recommend waiting until closer to your departure date to
purchase your Water Park ticket. Without FastPass+ or Dining reservations available at the Water Parks, you can purchase your tickets close to your arrival without worrying about missing out on anything.
You could also spend your first afternoon at
Fantasia Gardens and Fairways Miniature Golf,
Winter Summerland Miniature Golf or
Disney Springs. Watching Frozen 2 when it premieres this November at
AMC Movies at Disney Springs 24 would also be an excellent way to spend a potentially chilly afternoon.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for warm Water Park weather for you, Gretchen!
Amy
