We will be at Disneyworld March 12-15 for 3 park days and it's our first time. Since we need to reserve park days in advance, do you have a suggestion on which parks we should start with each day? Do you recommend park hopper and have 17 & 14yr old

    Hi Reena,

I love to put the puzzle pieces together for a practically perfect itinerary, so I’m happy to help you think this through. You’re smart to be sure you have theme park reservations secured, as this is now required and some days can fill up.

First, I verified the park hours and any special events that may impact potential plans. The grand finale of the World’s Most Magical Celebration, commemorating the Walt Disney World Resort’s 50th anniversary, will be going on through the end of March. This is celebrated in different ways in all four theme parks but does not impact your schedule. The EPCOT International Flower and Garden Festival will likely be going on – this is a beautiful celebration around the World Showcase with food booths, concerts, and seminars. Keep an eye on the Disney Parks Blog for details soon.

I always recommend first-time visitors see Magic Kingdom Park on their first day; the iconic Cinderella Castle is what most people associate with Walt Disney World and seeing it on the first park day really feels like you’re on a Disney vacation.

EPCOT is also unique to Florida and would be a good second day park. Don’t miss Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind – a new roller coaster with a smooth but unpredictable ride through space to save the galaxy! This is my favorite attraction at the Walt Disney World Resort.

For your third day, park selection will depend on your family’s preferences:

    • If you have any Star Wars fans, you must visit Disney’s Hollywood Studios! Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge allows you to live your own Star Wars adventure on the planet Batuu. Disney’s Hollywood Studios is also home to Toy Story Land, the iconic Tower of Terror, and some really entertaining shows.
    • If you don’t have Star Wars fans, I recommend a great day at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. This theme park is unlike any other, where you can encounter incredible animals and environments of Africa, Asia, and Discovery Island. If you’re a fan of the Avatar films, a visit to Pandora – the World of Avatar will awaken all your senses as you explore this immersive land.
My family rarely purchases the Park Hopper option, though many Guests love having that flexibility. I find there is so much to do in each park that we don’t want to spend additional time on transportation and the additional expense. If you decide to purchase the Park Hopper option, you must add it to all three days of your trip. Be sure to make the theme park reservation for your first park each day, and then you may hop to another theme park after 2:00pm.

Please feel free to ask me more questions as you put together your vacation plans, Reena.
