We are going to Disneyworld to celebrate our 20 anniversary in Oct. unfortunately when we made plans 2 years ago had no idea my mom would pass away unexpectedly Oct.19 2018so we will be there on the first year of her death any ideas to do something special

Hi Lesley, and thank you for trusting the Disney Parks Moms Panel to help you plan for such a meaningful moment. We are all honored by your trust!

Because all life-altering events are all very personal, I'de like to share a short story with you. My dear grandfather was always a champion of our education in Brazil: he drove my sister and me to our English classes with scientific precision every day to make sure that we would both be ready to seize every opportunity in the future.

When I was selected to be on the Disney Parks Moms Panel, I took many pictures on the training trip to show him over the Easter break, when I was planning to fly to Brazil and visit my whole family, but, unfortunately, he passed away before I could show him everything he helped me accomplish here in the United States.

But now, every time I watch a fireworks show at a Disney Theme Park, I feel like his eyes are also lighting the sky with his optimism, and now they're my way of celebrating his presence in my life: marvelous, inspiring, unforgettable and yet, finite. Once the fireworks paint the sky, we can never forget them, even if they're gone and the starry blue has taken over behind the castle, can we?

So, based on this personal experience, I'd suggest celebrating your mom with a special view of the Happily Ever After Fireworks Show at Magic Kingdom Park. The Fireworks Dessert Party with Plaza Garden Viewing might be the perfect experience to give you a reserved spot to watch them and celebrate the memories that will surely come to mind.

I hope this advice helps you celebrate your mom's memory and keep her close to your heart as this magical vacation unfolds, Lesley. Celebrating a lifetime of memories and a wedding anniversary at the Walt Disney World Resort is a fantastic choice on itself!

If you ever need more help or advice before your trip is here, please, come back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. We will be honored to help you again!

May the magic be always with you,

    Julie
