What is Disney’s policy on backup batteries for phones? Is there a size limit? I’m concerned a back up power bank I purchased is too big. Also, is there wifi in the parks guests can connect to? Thank you

    Hi Natalie!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I am married to a computer nerd who loves all things tech, and we have three teens who can go through battery life on devices faster than Pooh eats honey. We always carry a fairly large backup battery into the parks with us. There is no official policy on backup batteries, and we have never had an issue. I suspect that in this digital age, the Security Guards at the gate are probably accustomed to seeing them in people’s bags. The model we brought most recently is a solar rechargeable battery pack and is 7 inches by 3.5 inches. We actually have another that is slightly larger and we have brought it in many times as well without an issue.

You’ll be happy to know that there is WiFi throughout the parks and Disney Springs, so you’ll definitely want that backup battery! You’ll also find WiFi at Disney Resort Hotels, and while you won’t find it on every bus, the newest buses in the Disney fleet are also WiFi equipped!

To make the most of your WiFi, be sure to download the My Disney Experience Mobile App to your smartphone. This will be your key to the kingdom and allow you to access park maps, FastPass+, wait times and more! I also recommend the Play Disney Parks App where you can play games while waiting for attractions, complete tasks to collect badges, listen to your favorite theme park tunes, or use it as the Star Wars Datapad in Galaxy’s Edge. It is definitely a “Must-Have.”

Wishing you a magical and well charged visit to the Walt Disney World Resort!
