Hello and welcome to
planDisney, Andrew. I always love to see a fellow North Carolinian stop by to ask a question.
Andrew, we don't yet know an updated timeframe of when
Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park might open back up. Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park's last day of operation before the closure for refurbishment was January 1st. While I haven't heard anything official there is speculation that it will be a multi-month closer. Be sure to keep checking back here and over at the
Disney Parks Blog for an update, especially as it gets closer to your vacation in May.
The good news is there is another water park at Walt Disney World and it is currently open.
Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park reopened on January 2nd and I've got to tell you, I couldn't be happier about it. I absolutely love Typhoon Lagoon, I think it is the best water park I've ever been to. If Blizzard Beach doesn't open back up before your vacation, I highly encourage you to check out Typhoon Lagoon instead.
At Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park you can find North America's largest
wave pool. It is so big they actually offer surfing lessons in it! I could spend the entire day getting tossed around in the waves. There is nothing else like it. You'll also find so many fun water slides to enjoy during your day there. My favorite is probably
Miss Adventure Falls, which is the newest slide. It's so unique. To start off your experience you actually sit in your tube and ride up an aquatic escalator to the top of the slide - it's so cool! Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park really offers something for the whole family. They have plenty of family areas where Guests of all ages can partake and then they have some fun thrill rides for the big kids of the group.
Whichever water park you end up visiting, Andrew, don't forget to grab an order of the quintessential water park treat - mini donuts! Nothing tastes better after a long day of splish-splashing around in the Florida sun.
If you have any other questions while you plan your upcoming vacation, please feel free to stop back by and
ask me. I'm happy to help.
Have fun!
Jackie H.
