Hey there, Stephanie! Welcome back to planDisney. You are just days away from your Disneyland Resort visit, so let's get that question answered!
Unfortunately, Disneyland Resort does not have the body scanners that allow you to walk through with your bags on. I wish we did! I was at Walt Disney World last year and thought those were so cool and convenient! So you will need to have your bags open, all zippers and pouches unzipped, and ready to be searched. I did see recently during a busy morning that there was a line for those without bags on the Disneyland Hotel entrance to
Downtown Disney District, but I am not certain if that is available all the time or at all of the security locations.
I am an over-packer even if it is just a day in the parks, so I have yet to master a backpack-free day. I will say that in my multiple trips the last few months I haven't had any issues of standing in line too long for security at the Downtown Disney District entrances or the Mickey and Friends garage/tram location. Now that they also do security checks at Toy Story lot, it helps lessen the wait on the Harbor Blvd side as well, although I haven't used that location recently to know how that looks regularly.
You may benefit from the backpack to carry an extra layer, even on beautiful days like today, it can get chilly in the mornings and evenings. If you are determined to be backpack free, there are
locker rentals that do come in handy. The locker rentals can be found inside the parks, as well as in the Esplanade should you want to make use of those.
Stephanie, I hope this gets you one step closer to being packed and ready for your trip. Be sure to stop by and see us again! See ya real soon!
