Hello, Melody!
Welcome to planDisney! Moving your trip to Thanksgiving Break means that you will experience the
Holidays at Disneyland Resort! Although I would happily visit Disneyland every day of the year, there is something special about being in the parks when holiday decorations adorn Main Street, U.S.A., and Sleeping Beauty Castle is decked out in icicles. It is my most favorite time of year!
According to the
Disneyland Resort Package Booking Terms and Conditions, Vacation Package cancellations made 30 days or more prior to Guest arrival will have the amount paid refunded back to them. This is minus cancellation fees assessed by third-party hotels or other suppliers, non-refundable travel protection plan costs, and other amounts owed. If you booked a Vacation Package directly with Disneyland and cancel more than 30 days in advance, you will most likely get your full refund. Before canceling, you may want to contact Disneyland's
"Vacation Packages" line to verify any cancellation fees. In my experience, it can take at least 30 days for the refund to show up in your account.
If it were me, I would modify my existing Vacation Package instead of canceling it. This way I would not have to wait for my deposit to be refunded. Keep in mind that you may have to pay an additional deposit or fee if the cost of your Vacation Package is higher during Thanksgiving Break. To do this, contact
"Vacation Packages" at Disneyland.
Regardless of which option you choose, I recommend keeping an eye on the
Disney Parks Blog and the
Offers & Discounts page in case any discounts are announced for your upcoming trip. In the past, I was able to call Disneyland to get newly released discounts applied to my existing reservation. These are subject to availability, so I would call as soon as possible.
On the other hand, if you purchased tickets separate from a Vacation Package, then those tickets are non-refundable. However, you can cancel your existing park reservations and make reservations for your new dates when they become available. Just check the expiration date of your theme park tickets to ensure your new reservations occur before the expiration date.
Melody, I hope your family enjoys the most magical time of year at Disneyland Resort! If you have additional questions about the Holidays at Disneyland, I would love for you to
contact me directly!Jen
